Cave Valley Ranch is a rare trophy elk hunting and working ranch located approximately 45 miles south of Ely, Nevada. The ranch includes approximately 3,460± deeded acres and 42,024 BLM lease acres (buyer to independently verify permit acreage with BLM), land in White Pine and Lincoln counties situated beneath the Mount Grafton Wilderness.

Cave Valley Ranch is known by hunting enthusiasts for exceptional Rocky Mountain elk habitat, significant water resources, restored and conserved land, and six annual coveted landowner elk tags. These tags are valid on ranch-controlled land and throughout Nevada hunting units 221, 222 and 223, which encompass 2,831 square miles. These valuable tags are valid throughout archery, muzzleloader, early rifle and late rifle seasons. These tags can also be sold. In fact, one recently sold at a charitable auction for $375,000.

Cave Valley Ranch also supports mule deer, antelope, cattle grazing and extensive wildlife habitat. The ranch has historically operated as a 400–500 head cow/calf operation and began transitioning to a yearling operation in 2023. Currently oth BLM allotments are leased to an independent operator at $30 in AUM, with the requirement that cattle grazing does not negatively affect elk habitat.

Water is a defining feature of the property. Cave Valley Ranch holds 47 total water rights, including 21 vested water rights, with priority dating back to the 1800s in many cases. Ownership has also made improvements to water delivery throughout the ranch, including solar pump conversions, approved water lines and spring-source development.

The headquarters compound is stunningly set beneath Mount Grafton and includes a 5,900 sq. ft. main owner’s lodge with 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, strategically positioned away from the manager’s house, bunkhouse/barn, cattle-handling facilities, large shop, hay storage, power, and pumphouse.
